Stirling has always played a pivotal role in Scotland's history, and during a Perfect city break to Stirling you'll see why. Stirling Castle with its royal links is also one of the city's best viewpoints, offering vistas across the city to the beautiful Ochil and Trossachs hill ranges. Also well worth a visit is the National Wallace Monument built in tribute to Scotland's national hero Sir William Wallace.
Events worth checking out during the summer months are the unique Le Weekend, the city's intriguing experimental music festival taking place from 29 to 31 May and the tradional Highland Games on 12 July.
Stirling is the ideal city break destination for those who like to combine city amenities with the great outdoors. Just a short drive and you've reached Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park which is surely home to some of Scotland's most stunning landscapes. Cycle or walk around the many way-marked trails in the area, or take a cruise on the famous Loch itself.
Take a trip through to nearby Falkirk during the first weekend in May when Falkirk's Calllander Park, which plays host to 'Big in Falkirk' - Scotland's National Street Arts Festival.
