New Lanark New Lanark Roof Garden
An 18th century cotton mill village, it first rose to fame when Robert Owen was mill manager from 1800-1825. Owen transformed life in New Lanark with ideas and opportunities which were at least a hundred years ahead of their time. Child labour and corporal punishment were abolished, and villagers were provided with decent homes, schools and evening classes, free health care, and affordable food. Chatelherault
Offering stunning views, there's a multitude to see and do in this beautiful country park. The restored William Adam hunting lodge includes a visitor centre, there are ten miles of footpaths showcasing the Avon River gorge, ancient oaks and extensive woodland. David Livingstone Centre

Maritime heritage in Inverclyde THE TOWN OF GOUROCK ON THE FIRTH OF CLYDE VIEWED FROM THE GOLF COURSE ON LYLE HILL, INVERCLYDE
The ideal way to explore the Clyde's rich maritime heritage is to head 30 minutes west of Glasgow and visit the coastal towns of Inverclyde. There are stunning views of the southwest Highlands along this stretch of coastline, which turns up some real gems in Newark Castle, the Custom House Museum - where Robert Burns once worked and the McLean Museum & Art Gallery where you can explore the seafaring past and the work of famous son James Watt. The trails are fast, fun and purpose-built for year round use. The routes feature testing single-track climbs, flowing descents and stunning views of the reservoir and surrounding areas. West Highland Way
The West Highland Way was Scotland's first official long distance route. Originally conceived in the 1960s, it was completed in October 1980. The Way links Milngavie to Fort William - a distance of 152km (95 miles) - from the outskirts of Glasgow to the foot of Ben Nevis - following the shores of its largest freshwater loch.
