Glasgow - Scotland

George Square, GlasgowOn a city break to Glasgow, you'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to options for your break.

A Glasgow city break is full of cultural highlights, like the beautiful Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum and the modern art delights of the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA).

The architecture in Glasgow is particularly stunning - a wonderful mix of Victorian, Edwardian and modern facades, and most notably buildings designed by one of the city's favourite sons; Charles Rennie Mackintosh. For the centenary of The Mackintosh Building at the Glasgow School of Art, a programme of exhibitions, talks, tours and activities at the school and the city's other Mackintosh venues have been planned. Don't miss a trip to The Willow Tea Room, where the menu is every bit as mouthwatering as the Mackintosh-designed interior.

With more style than Paris and more substance than Rome, Glasgow is a must-do winter city break.  Go for a stroll through Glasgow Green, breeze through Bellahouston or take a walk through Kelvingrove park.  Out of town spend an afternoon at Mugdock Country Park then warm up with a wee dram at nearby Glengoyne Distillery.

And of course, Glasgow is famous for its vibrant live music scene, its multitude of stylish bars and excellent restaurants. The city is blessed with a wealth of designer names and with major stores and unique shops around every corner.  After a day in Glasgow, you'll understand why the city has been described as 'Scotland with Style.'
