Sound, located in various venues around north-east Scotland, proves that exciting, experimental and boundary-pushing projects in the arts are not confined solely to trendy metropolises, but in fact they can flourish and perhaps have the freedom to be even more daring in more remote and rural areas. The festival aims to broaden people's musical horizons through a diverse programme of concerts, talks, installations and workshops all celebrating the less accessible corners of the musical spectrum. This year's acts include King Creosote (pictured), Simon Thacker, Oliver Searle, Catriona McKay, Aiden Moffat and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
